As I'm starting my
VBCW project from scratch I don't have any suitable buildings that look British. So I decided to scratch build some
Purbeck stone buildings common to the area of
Dorset my
campaign is set in. This is my first test piece. It's based on a picture in a book on
Dorset my mum gave me (thanks mum). Its built of foam core cardboard and balsa wood. I'm quite pleased with how it's turned out. It was quite labour intensive but cost pence to make. Now I just need to make a Pub, church and a couple more cottages to give me a nice little village for the
wargames table.
Hi John.
ReplyDeleteVery well done on the cottage. The wavy roof line looks particularly good.
I would suggest that a wash of Devian Mud over the stone work would help to highlight all that sculpting. (Maybe a watered down wash, just to test it).

That's very Worth Matravers(ish)...reminds me of A level field work, a long, long time ago.
ReplyDeleteThe roofline and stonework are excellent.
Good stuff!
